Twelve things worth remembering

The SMID Principles

01

Not everything needs an audience.

A moment does not become more meaningful because strangers saw it.

02

A private life is still a meaningful life.

Privacy is not secrecy. It is the right to keep part of yourself for yourself.

03

Your life does not need to become content.

Your family, hobbies, meals, opinions, and memories do not exist to feed a platform.

04

You do not need a personal brand.

You are a person, not an ongoing advertising campaign.

05

Attention should be given deliberately.

Algorithms should not decide what occupies your mind, shapes your mood, or consumes your day.

06

You are allowed to be unavailable.

An unanswered message is not a moral failure. Constant access is not a requirement of friendship.

07

Memories count without evidence.

Take the picture and keep it. Attend the event without proving you were there. The moment still happened.

08

Children deserve childhoods, not content libraries.

Their lives should not become public records before they are old enough to understand what was shared.

09

People should be allowed to change.

A bad opinion, awkward phase, failed attempt, or stupid joke should not follow someone forever.

10

Connection should feel human.

A conversation is not engagement. A friend is not a follower. A community is not a comment section.

11

Technology should serve people.

People should not be studied, manipulated, distracted, and sold back to themselves in the name of connection.

12

Real life is better.

Call someone. Visit someone. Make something. Fix something. Go somewhere and leave no evidence.
